Pythons were probably the first idols to be worshipped by man, archaeologists said after unearthing evidence of a ritual dating back 70,000 years.
I dunno, I’d have to say that Python worship is still going on, after a sort.

The Friday Random Guess 10 — the “I Did Go to Work this Morning, Didn’t I?” Edition:
I’ll get around to posting answers to last week’s soon, I promise [Update: Posted now.]. As always, good luck!
It says something about me, I’m sure, that I maybe found this one of the more interesting lines in this article about superlions in Africa:
Irons, who most famously starred in the TV series Brideshead Revisited, describes the scene in this ‘magical world’, where two great warriors live side by side in the most beautiful terrain.
I guess the other acting he’s done in the intervening 25 years, like his voice work in The Lion King, or his Oscar-winning role in Reversal of Fortune didn’t get much play in the United Kingdom. I’m not trying to sound like Irons’ publicist here,* but I did find this a little amusingly odd.
Oh, and the stuff about the lions is interesting too…

* Although, after starring in Dungeons & Dragons, he could maybe use all the help he can get…
