Via Boing Boing, I learn that Jeb Bush’s official gubernatorial portrait includes his Blackberry. Which I can only assume grows increasingly more old and obsolete as the real Blackberry stays young and active, a la The Picture of Dorian Gray.

I’ve got to agree with Gwenda Bond, this is a pretty terrific New York Times headline: “Please Let It Be Whale Vomit, Not Just Sea Junk.”
I have to admit, I had no idea whale vomit was a such a widely used perfume ingredient…
I suppose it’s better than getting vanilla from cow dung*, however…

All my Christmas cards have now been mailed. If you didn’t receive one from me, there are a few possible reasons for this:
- I didn’t have your mailing address.
- Your card is still on its way.
- I ran out of cards before I could send one.
- Um…hey! What’s that shiny thing over there?! [runs]
Apologies if you didn’t get a card and wanted one. I sent very few out this year, mostly to people who’d sent me cards, or with whom I haven’t really been in touch for awhile. In 2007 I hope to be better, and prompter, about this sort of thing, but…well, I think that’s the sort of promise I make to myself every year, in all honesty, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
