Two things from Roger Ebert. First, a quote:

The marketing people, whose interest in a movie is focused entirely on selling it, have the same philosophy as salespeople in grocery stores who offer you a piece of cheese on a toothpick. After you have sampled it, you know everything about the cheese, except what it would be like to eat the whole thing. Same with trailers that summarize the whole movie.

And, second, a link to a video of George W. Bush on the Morning of 9/11. This is the video that shows him sitting there, doing nothing but sitting pretty for his photo-op, for five minutes after he’d been informed America was under terrorist attack.

Plenty of positions for managing editors (with something like 10-20+ years experience), but the editors they manage…well, if the want ads are any indication, they apparently never need to rehire them. Maybe they grow them in vats.
