Incidentally, this post does have comments, but for some reason they’re no longer showing up in the count. Just FYI.

Updating the “Helpful Notes” file I inherited when I took over this job a little over two and a half years ago, I’m amazed to see just how many of them are no longer applicable or that I never bothered learning to begin with.

I’m not sure how to update some of these items except to write, “Oh, no. Somebody else does that now,” or “We used to do things like this apparently. Nowadays, though, it’s anybody’s guess.”

You know, I saw this posted about a week ago, but I still can’t help but hope it’s a hoax, or that somebody couldn’t tell that Ray Bradbury was kidding. It would be disappointing to think that one of my favorite authors is actually such a thin-skinned jerk. (I’ve already had enough trouble with the knowledge that Orson Scott Card is something of a conservative blowhard.)

Obviously, I can’t read Swedish and online translators are a little dodgy at best, but the original article seems to say what World Net Daily says it does. Which is disappointing. As Matthew Baldwin points out, it’s not as if Bradbury has been above the occasional literary allusion himself.

Thus far, my plan to bend the universe to my will and force it to give me a job opportunity in Texas has failed spectacularly. The universe’s plan to send me packing to New York (jobless and with all of my possessions in my parent’s garage or childhood bedroom), however, continues apace.
