For those of you who might be interested in this sort of thing, I’ve uploaded the first four issues of the Penn State Monty Python Society newsletter. These issues excerpt extensively from Dedicated Idiocy, Alyce Wilson’s terrific personal history of the Society, and, as always, they feature lots of silly things like fake horoscopes, fake reader polls, naughty words, and reviews of toys, books, and fresh fruit^*. Check them out, if you’re so inclined. I think they’re funny issues, but I’m probably a little biased.

I haven’t been watching a lot of movies lately, but the few I have seen are now briefly reviewed in the sidebar. I’ve been spending most of my free time writing and reading. (Okay, and just a little bit of television.)

A far cry from “the meek shall inherit the earth”, but sadly also probably a whole lot closer to the truth.

As I mention briefly in my comments here, the Pennsylvania Office of Tourism is sponsoring something they call the “Penn a Phrase for Pennsylvania” Slogan Contest. The five finalists are pretty ho-hum, if you ask me, and so I’ve lately been trying to get the Penn State Monty Python Society to come up with better, sillier state slogans. Any suggestions of your own?

You know, all things considered, I’d have to say that yes, going to see Lost in Translation is a much better way to spend an afternoon than sitting in front of a computer at work. Remind me again why I ever thought snow was a bad thing…?

Oh, and in other news, State College has an honest-to-goodness real movie theater now.

The University is on a two-hour delay this morning. I don’t have to go in until 10 am. A person could get used to this.

It’s hard to tell from my window, but it doesn’t look that bad out there. I think they’re just not taking any chances after Tuesday when they cancelled classes almost ten minutes into the first one.
