Sometimes, the world just wants a mystery.
Learning who Deep Throat was turned out to be something of a dud. Do we really need to know who Jack the Ripper was, too?
Have you ever read a book that made you cry?
I can think of books that have changed my life, or at least the way I look at books, stories that have stirred real emotion in me — but made me cry?
Although, this one is coming pretty close. A children’s picture book with a back-cover blurb from Grover Norquist? That’s enough to make most any man cry.
Yesterday, my little local writing group met again. The assignment: take five pictures, which we chose from available magazines, and combine them some way in a story. I don’t have copies of the pictures, but I don’t know that you’d be able to pick out which parts were inspired by what anyway. It was fun, and I’m big believer in anything that makes writing more fun. Here’s what I wrote.
