Scientists discover “tenth planet”. (Whereas I discovered the link via Warren Ellis.)

I think, in honor of the late Douglas Adams, they should name the planet “Rupert”.

Updating our internal database at work a few minutes ago, I came across this short note for one our book contributors:

After taking last week off (for a picnic), a couple friends and I met again to write this afternoon. Same exercise: five, more or less random words, worked into a story. Here’s what I wrote. The words were praetor, beatnik, meerschaum, drachma, and squiffy.

I’m noticing a recent trend in fake survey spam. I can win thousands of dollars by telling you which soft drink I prefer? I don’t think so.
