I do a fair number of crossword puzzles every week. I like them. I don’t know that I’d go so far as to call myself a cruciverbalist, and I’ve never had much desire to attend the annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, but I do have a subscription to The New York Times Crossword Society (it was a gift), and hardly a day go by that I don’t complete at least one puzzle. Today’s Washington Post puzzle is, I think, particularly nice, with its theme of “Faulty Lines”. It’s not a especially ingenious or difficult puzzle, but it is interesting how we all remember lines from movies, books, or television shows that were never actually spoken.

Then there’s the fact that the clue for 31-down is “Ex-demon on ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ who is afraid of bunnies”. How can you not like a puzzle like that?

Again, the car steadfastly refuses to be broken. I guess you can’t expect a mechanic to diagnose a problem if he or she can’t find it. I will, of course, be very upset if this problem persists or gets worse. (So far I haven’t been stranded anywhere, just given a few panicked minutes when I thought I would be.) At least the dealership didn’t charge me for anything, and it was almost fun taking the bus again after so long. Almost.
