Everything and the kitchen sink

The weather turned nice again today, and I didn’t even wear a jacket to work.

Meanwhile, at work, Year of the Meeting continued, after what’s been an uncharacteristic lull.

Also meanwhile, at home, it turns out the kitchen sink might be leaking. So, you know, that’s a whole heap of fun.

But hey, I had this to amuse me on my train ride home this morning, so I guess it’s all good.

Your garden-variety Tuesday

A rainy day at the home office. Not much to say about it, really.

In fact, why don’t I just point you over to my Tumblr, where I’ve been posting lots of silly things. It’s all a bit zany — you know, a bit madcap funster. Frankly, I don’t fully understand it myself, but the kids seem to like it.

Monday

I can’t quite figure out if I got a lot accomplished today or nothing done, but I’m pretty sure it was one or the other.

But tomorrow’s Tuesday, and I get to work from home. I’m mostly excited because that means I get to sleep in an extra hour or two. Friends, you take your excitement where you can get it.

A real mother of a day

Happy Mother’s Day!

It was a quiet one here. I spent most of it out in the backyard again, reading Kaleidotrope submissions and really just enjoying another day of very pleasant weather. Oh, and there was another episode of Supernatural in there, too. Except for the Sunday crossword and Chinese for dinner, it could almost have been yesterday all over again.

Although we weren’t aware of baby birds nesting in the bushes outside the front of the house yesterday, so that’s different, too. A little baby cardinal — that one up above, hopped out of the bush and into the garage, all the way to the back door. We had to shoo it out gently with a broom to reunite it with its parents, who have been swooping back and forth all day, all but ready to attack anyone who comes near. (They’re cardinals, so it’s not exactly Alfred Hitchcock territory here, but this is clearly not a mama who wants anyone near her chicks.)

Duck hunting

It was a quiet though lovely day here in New York. Lots of sunshine, nothing much to be done. Oh sure, I’ve got lots and lots and lots of Kaleidotrope submissions still to get through — and I only managed to get through a tiny handful today — but beyond that and an episode of Supernatural, it’s not like I had anything remarkable planned.

This evening, I went out to dinner with my parents, sister, and brother-in-law, for Mother’s Day. We went to the same restaurant we went to for my birthday in March. I even had the same duck entree. And it was good, but not anywhere as good. Oh well.

When I came home, I watched Predators, which will never replace the original in my heart — really, what could? — but it was surprisingly not terrible.

And that was my day.
