Yesterday, I discovered that messages being sent to one of my two (or three) e-mail accounts at work apparently haven’t been reaching me for weeks, but instead have just been sitting there on the server, unanswered.

Oh, happy day.

Some spam today: “Dream Remodeling Sweepstakes Entry”

Whoa. Dream remodeling? ’cause I’ve had some pretty lousy dreams in my life that could’ve used some remodeling, let me tell you.

The one where I show up late to the final in the class I’ve missed since day one? What half-assed contracting job was that?

I met yesterday with a couple of friends to write again. Again, our writing exercise was five words, free-writing, for about forty minutes. The words of choice were pantheon, class, imbroglio, orphic, and turophile.

Here’s what I came up with. I think I did much better than last week, when I chose the words myself. I’ve definitely noticed it’s more fun writing on 600 seconds when someone else picks the topic.

Overheard:

“They say your best friends are in college. So you’d better be my best friends or I will fuck you up.”

But it was clear she meant it with love.
