A couple of weeks ago, Boing Boing posted that if you type Confidential “do not distribute” into Google, you’ll get a lot of unprotected confidential documents in your results. Which was true. People are really just that dumb. Of course, now most of the top results are from weblogs re-posting this.

Of course, there are still plenty of result there that you and I are probably not supposed to see. And the same goes if you type in Proprietary “Do not distribute”.

If you want to keep something secret and yet you insist on putting in on your website, then at the very least, password protect it, okay?

From Hacking Netflix:

I paid $14.99 for a movie that is lower in quality than the DVD, lacks the special features, takes about an hour to download, and is basically unplayable on my television.

Yeah, that pretty much confirms my suspicions about the new iTunes movie download service. Despite all the hype about it, my initial reaction was meh. With that lack of quality and Apple’s restrictions, why bother?
