I’m screwing around with the blog template, mostly with the colors above and in the sidebar. You may also notice the new image up top (borrowed from here). Feel free to tell me if any of it looks, y’know, stupid.
Month: October 2005
It doesn’t take a lot for me to remember why I love Mutts:
Earl: Mooch, I wish we had booksmarts.
Mooch: Ha! I have bookshmarts! I shlept on a dictionary last night and my back is killing me!
From the Sci-Fi Wire:
Emmanuelle Vaugier, who stars in the SCI FI Channel’s upcoming two-hour pilot Painkiller Jane, told SCI FI Wire that she viewed her character, Jane Browning, and her alter ego, Painkiller Jane, as variations on the same character.
Well, gee, I hope so. That’s sort of the definition of alter ego.
The Friday Random 10, “Well That Was Weird” Edition:
“Thing Called Love” – Johnny Cash
“Money” – The Lovin’ Spoonful
“Bustin’ Surfboards” – The Tornados
“O Fortuna” – Czecho-Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra
“Star Eyes” – Charlie Parker
“Maggie Mae” – The Beatles
“Here Comes My Baby” – Cat Stevens
“Just Like Honey” – The Jesus & Mary Chain
“Play the Game” – Queen
“Girl From The North Country” – Bob Dylan
Sure, H.G. Wells may have invented the Video iPod, but, as I’ve pointed out before, Vladamir Nabokov invented the smiley emoticon:
“I often think there should exist a special typographical sign for a smile — some sort of concave mark, a supine round bracket, which I would now like to trace in reply to your question.” – Nabokov in interview, 1969
Now that’s prescience!
