The BBC News reports that “scientists are developing a smart tattoo that could tell diabetics when their glucose levels are dangerously low.” And of course I am instantly reminded of the tattoo sported by Darien Fawkes on the Sci-Fi Channel’s The Invisible Man. Man am I a geek.

Long weekends are much better in theory than in practice. This hasn’t been a day off so much as it’s just been an extra Sunday; nothing gets done, and it will be all the more difficult to drag myself to work tomorrow.

I’m usually not this rude, but there is something intensely satisfying about hanging up on telemarketers when they’re in mid-sentence.

I really should pay closer attention to things. Apparently there’s a home football game this weekend. No longer working in the center of campus, and no longer reliant on the bus to get around, I’m out of step with what’s happening in town. If my boss wasn’t teaching this semester, I might not even have known classes had started. Until about two days ago, I’d forgotten that Monday was Labor Day. Color me oblivious.
