The tweeting dead

I didn’t do a whole lot today, on my first day off, beyond run a few errands and do a very little bit of writing. I watched most of Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking one-woman show, mostly just because I stumbled across it on HBO. It’s kind of a weird experience, but she’s thoroughly engaging.

Then this evening, I watched 28 Days Later with friends over Twitter. I liked the movie a lot when it first came out, but it was a lot of fun and truly interesting to re-examine it. I remember not being as enamored with the sequel, but I definitely need to revisit it as well now.

  1. Is that a stone duck behind you?

The #saturdaymovie was fun! We’ll have to pick something we haven’t all seen for the next one – I enjoyed rewatching 28 Days Later with you, but not knowing what would happen with The Human Centipede added suspense. Hilarious suspense.

I especially like that #saturdaymovie has the potential to become a longstanding tradition.

    • That is a stone duck, yes. And, I believe, a tennis ball my sister’s dog left back there when they visited in November.

I’d only seen 28 Days Later once before, so it was almost new to me in a way, but I definitely know what you mean. I think the #saturdaymovie experience, at least as it is over Twitter, lends itself to a movie all (or most) of the us have seen before, or one that we expect to be bad and riff-worthy, like The Human Centipede. It’s hard to make jokes about a movie you’ve never seen and that’s good.

But I definitely think we should do it again.
