So my losing streak with summer blockbuster sequels1 ended today with Ocean’s Thirteen — which, if not quite as good as the original2, is still much better than the misguided Ocean’s Twelve and is a whole lot of fun. I followed up the day’s double-feature with Knocked Up, which is raunchy and funny and sweet, and if there’s any justice in the world will make Seth Rogen and everyone else involved in a much bigger star. Highly recommended.
Oh, but Regal Cinemas? Offering me a free movie ticket as a member of your Regal Crown Club and then telling me I can’t use it for any new movies, i.e. a movie that’s only been out for one or two weeks? Not cool. Especially when movies tend not to stay in your theaters more than a couple of weeks.
1 Not entirely fair. Shrek the Third was sort of boring, but pretty innocuous and even sometimes cute.
2 No, not the original original. The 2001 Ocean’s Eleven.
