I haven’t read Cell or seen any of Eli Roth’s movies — well, not beyond the first twenty minutes of Cabin Fever, which just didn’t do anything for me, honestly — but I don’t know that I’d use the phrase “famously finicky author” to describe Stephen King. Yes, he’s gone on record often with his disappointment over Stanley Kubrick’s version of The Shining — to the point that he managed to get television-movie remake made — but there’s a long list of crap movies made from his books that he’s kept silent about.
