It’s Friday, thank goodness. Here’s the Random Guess 10:
- “The Christians and the Pagans” by Dar Williams
The meal had gone without a hitch - “I’m Bored” by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band
I hate each Julie Andrews film they’ve made - “Rise Up with Fists!” by Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins, guessed by Eric
It’s like trying to clean the ocean - “Without You” by Badfinger (or others), guessed by Glen
But I guess that’s just the way the story goes - Te Aviso, Te Anuncio (Tango)” by Shakira, guessed by Eric
Te me clavaste en el cuerpo como un cuchillo - “Mississippi” by Train
Midnight moon shines through it all - “Bird as Prophet” by Christine Fellows
What I wouldn’t give for arms to hold you - “Sideburns” by Tony Travis, guessed by Eric
Sideburns don’t need your sympathy - “Girls on Film” by Billy Preston (orig. Duran Duran), guessed by Kim
And she wonders how she ever got here as she goes under again - “We Love Deez Hoes” by Outkast, guessed by Eric
I stay G sharp as a note of music
You know the deal. Good luck! Last week’s answers are here.
#4 sounds like Dire Straits in my head, but beyond that, I am clueless.
(Hmm. The word verification this time says “bdwsr.” Is google sneakily leasing out word-verification advertising to beer companies, now?)
‘fraid it’s not Dire Straits, unless they did a cover I’m not familiar with.
My verification word was “fucokn,” so not only is Google promoting beer, they’re drunk on it and randomly cursing at people.
#4 sounds like Harry Nilsson’s “Without You,” to me, but it has been covered many, many times.
Including, in fact, by Harry Nilsson. Badfinger actually wrote and recorded it first. That’s the version I was listening to, but I think I have Nilsson’s cover in there somewhere. (I actually sort of like Mariah Carey’s version, too.)
#9 is Girls on Film by Duran Duran
I want to say I’ve heard #8 in a MST3K episode….
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if you had…
#3 — Jenny Lewis & the Watson Twins, “Rise Up With Fists”
#5 — Shakira, “Te Aviso, Te Anuncio”
#8 — Tony Travis, that song from “The Beatniks.” (I always thought “Sideburns Don’t Need Your Sympathy” was the title of the song, but if you’re using it as a lyric, I’m assuming it’s not.)
#10 — Oukast, “We Love Deez Hoes”
As far as I know, it’s just called “Sideburns.” I’ve actually never seen the episode in question, unfortunately.
