The Bush administration used one tragic disaster in 2001 as carte blanche to do whatever it wanted in response. It’s a shame that it’s taken another, four years later, to finally get the nation to start holding the administation accountable for that. As Mr. Grant writes:

In just a few dozen hours, a hurricane has done what five years of liberal activism only partially succeeded at: put the full scrutiny of the American People and Media on the White House.

Let’s just hope it’s not a passing phase.
