So this sucks: Veronica Mars has been cancelled.
I’ve missed an episode or two since it came back from its extended hiatus, but, for my money, this was maybe the strongest season so far. I’ll genuinely miss it.

I don’t think it was the strongest season (the ensemble was mismanaged pretty horribly), but I am very sad to see Veronica Mars go. I really love the show. BUT it got 3 complete seasons, and DVD releases, which is more than many shows get.
Well…managing the ensemble was never the show’s strongest suit. Characters were introduced only to quickly outlive their usefulness — or sometimes they were never useful at all. (Anybody remember Sydney Poitier’s Mallory Dent from the first season?) And yeah, I think introducing at least two new characters this season was probably a mistake. Even though I liked the new characters, it meant we even more rarely saw some of the old. Wallace, Mac, and Weevil suffered most in this respect, and I would have liked to have seen more of them.
That said, I thought the stories and writing this year were at the top of their game. I thought the core of the show — Veronica — remained strong. Maybe it’s because I was vaguely disappointed with last season and felt that the “big mystery arc” was weighing the show down. Either way, I thought this was overall a much better season than last, and it probably remains my favorite.
I’m sorry to see the show go. And the way the CW told Rob Thomas (basically the same way they told everybody else, you and me included) was pretty lousy.
