If you’ve been looking for a reason to switch from Verizon, this might be it: they apparently lack even simple math skills. They seem convinced that .002 dollars and .002 cents are exactly the same thing.
There’s more at his blog. Original link via Return of the Reluctant.
Maybe Verizon should team up with that professor who recently claimed to have discovered a new way of dividing by zero…
Wow, jut reading the transcript on the blog makes me want to bang my head against a wall. I’m a little afraid to watch the video, lest my head explode from the stupidity. 🙂
It’s just audio, not video. But it definitely made me want to bang my head against the wall.
That’s painfully stupid.
In retrospect, IMO the customer should NOT have received a refund because of the rate he SAYS he was quoted.
If anyone ever quotes you anything, get it in writing. This goes doubly so if they happen to be a sales rep.
But to “do the right thing” of course you credit the customer, then you yell at your moron customer service rep.
He specifically asked the rep to mark the rate he was quoted in his account.
The issue isn’t what Verizon’s rate was. The issue is that Verizon quoted him a rate of .002 cents because they thought that was exactly the same thing as .002 dollars.
Verizon can charge whatever they like, but there’s no excuse for this kind of stupidity. Invest in a calculator. Get the accounting department involved. Learn some basic math.
