Heat waved

Oh, it was a busy day at work, but I managed to get more accomplished than I thought I would. And while it wasn’t as much as I would have liked to get accomplished, it was more than enough to end the day and week with.

Plus, there was cake. (It was a co-worker’s birthday.)

Right now, I’m just looking forward to the weekend. I had to break out the shorts and crank up the air conditioner, because it was as hot as an oven out today — though so cold in the office I can’t comfortably wear short-sleeved shirts. I think summer’s here for real.

What are the chances that you’re visiting my weblog and you don’t know how this game works? I don’t think I’ve had many new visitors to this blog in close to a decade. Anyway, it’s a simple guess-the-lyric thing I’ve been doing for years. Guess it right, win no prize! I dunno, it keeps the kids off the streets.

Here’s last week’s. And here’s this week’s:

  1. “Sinister Kid” by the Black Keys
But your mother don’t pay our bills
  2. “In Asking Land” by Talking Heads
    All the miners breathing underground
  3. “Hercules” by Elton John
That old tough man routine up her sleeves
  4. “Your Love” by Outfield, guessed by Clayton
You know I like my girls a little bit older
  5. “Rumble With the Gang Debs” by Tullycraft
    They’re taking lipstick out tonight
  6. “Curl” by Jonathan Coulton
Got to keep the Canadians down
  7. “Where Is Bobby Gentry?” by Jill Sobule
Does she ever go to Choctaw?
  8. “Pancho & Lefty” by Willie Nelson (orig. Townes van Zandt)
You weren’t your momma’s only boy
  9. “Self Esteem” by Offspring
Now I’ll relate this little bit
  10. “Ohio” by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, guessed by Clayton
    We’re finally on our own

Good luck!
