A few weeks back, I think Generik commented that he was only good at these weekly guess-the-lyrics things when it’s the opening line that’s quoted. Let’s put that to the test:

  1. “Lonesome Town” by Ricky Nelson, guessed by Kim
There’s a place where lovers go to cry their troubles away
  2. “Don’t Bring Me Down” by Electric Light Orchestra, guessed by Betty
You got me runnin’ goin’ out of my mind
  3. “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band (orig. Tony Bennett), guessed by Kim
The loveliness of Paris seems somehow sadly gay
  4. “Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavor (On the Bedpost Overnight)?” by Lonnie Donegan, guessed by Kim
    Oh-me, oh-my, oh-you, whatever shall I do?
  5. “Fortunate Son” by Creedence Clearwater Revival, guessed by Glen
Some folks are born made to wave the flag
  6. “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls, guessed by Glen
And I’d give up forever to touch you
  7. “Walking With a Ghost” by Tegan and Sara
No matter which way you go
  8. “A Brand New Song” by Brother Machine
And it ain’t so bad no more and
  9. “Puddle of Grace” by Amy Jo Johnson
    Have you seen yourself today?
  10. “Alien Vacation” by Moon Boot Lover
Travelin’ from worlds so far away, just silver ships in the night

Same as always: guess the lyric, win no prize. Here’s what happened last week, with all the answers.

Good luck — to Generik and the rest of you!

So this is what happened on my commute home last night. How about you?

Just so you know, this wasn’t my train — I was going in the opposite direction on the other track — but it happened between my station and the one right before it. The train was stuck there for well over an hour, so it’s lucky I was able to get a ride home. My father, who is usually one or two trains behind me in the evenings, managed to get a train on a different line, and we picked him up.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. My morning commute today went by without incident.
