Thursday, right?

Today was like yesterday, only more so. The only differences being: I woke up early and got to the office around 8 o’clock. And tomorrow is Friday. That’s really about it. Y’know, Thursdays — what can you do?

Meanwhile, I seem to have started a new tumblr blog. I’m not quite sure what I’m doing with it exactly, at least not yet, but it’s there.

This was a day, more or less

The snow all melted in the rain today, except for a few sad and scattered bits of it here and there. The Year of the Meeting continued apace, with a two-hour training session on a new data system this afternoon. And plans for Chinese take-out this evening were thwarted by it being the New Year, the Year of the Dragon, and the restaurant closed.

Just an ordinary Monday.

Thursday

Oh, such a day. Nothing too remarkable about it, beyond a two-hour meeting, who’s take-away seemed to be that we need to have more meetings so that we can have less meetings. (Have I told you? It’s the Year of the Meeting!) Then drinks after work to wish well a co-worker who’s leaving us at the end of the week.

Which is luckily tomorrow. Not luckily she’s leaving, but that it’s the end of the week. For a four-day week, this has been quite a long one.

Oh, and don’t even get me started about looking for an apartment. My brain might very well explode. I think I’m going to regroup, reconsider my finances and reality, before actually going to look at any places. I may be faced with the very real possibility that I may not be able to afford to move out, now or in any near future.

I’m hoping I’m wrong about that — I love my parents, but it’s been seven years now — but we’ll see.

Friday the 13th

I spent the whole day — well, 10:30 to 4 — in a meeting with our sales reps talking about some of the new and important books for the season. There was a free lunch, but I’m a little wiped. I’ve spent the evening mostly watching the end of Aliens and doing a crossword puzzle. Dinner was from the local Azerbaijan grill restaurant, and the crossword was from the New York Times.

It’s a long weekend here, which is nice, although it’s turned quite cold again, which is less pleasant. It snowed for about five minutes this morning — blink and you might have missed it — but right now it’s just really windy.

Did I mention I was in a meeting all day long?

Thursday

I’m not going to say that the research I talked about doing yesterday was all for naught, because it wasn’t, but a lot of it had already been done by marketing, unbeknownst to me, and it’s actually sort of difficult in just half a day to pull together any meaningful data on which schools and psychology or counseling departments offer psychopathology courses. (The answer to that question, if you’re wondering, is “all of them.” Plus a lot of social work, education, and educational psychology departments. It’s kind of an important course.)

And I’m not going to say that the weather was horribly nasty, because it wasn’t, at least not past the morning, and it was all rain instead of snow. We had a light dusting way back in October, but I’m really wondering if it’s going to snow again at all this winter. In years past, it’s been a question of how much, not if ever.

I’m just going to say this: I’m glad it’s a three-day weekend. Can you believe it’s been two whole weeks since I was last on vacation? Sheesh!
