Monday

Today was spent mostly with a pair of authors visiting our office to talk about their textbook and the development process ahead of us. It was a productive meeting, and while I snuck out after lunch (and feel a little bad I didn’t officially say goodbye), I think we’re in good shape to move forward with the book. I’ll definitely follow up with them tomorrow.

When I get to work from home. I was worried the meeting-that-was-cancelled would end up not being cancelled, and I’d have to be in the office after all. But that little bit of luck seems to be holding. I still have to work — we have another author who wants to visit later in the week — but at least I get to sleep in a little.

One should never underestimate the great joy in being able to sleep in just a little.

An odd sort of week

The day took a turn for the sunnier when the meeting I thought I was going to have to be in the office next Tuesday to take notes for got cancelled. Meaning I get to work from home that day after all, which makes me happy. It’s amazing how quickly I’ve grown accustomed to being able to sleep instead of commute. (Although working from home really does require some self-imposed structure to keep yourself on track. Then again, structure’s easier to manage when you’re better rested.)

Beyond that, the day went by about as expected. There’s at least one other meeting I do have to be in the office for next week, and a bunch of projects in development that need finessing. But overall it was kind of a slow day, and the end of sort of a weird week.

But it’s the weekend, which is always nice, however often it comes around.

A pretty decent day

Yesterday was pretty average, as far as Mondays go. Nothing spectacular, nothing to write home (or blog) about, but nothing too awful either.

Today, though, was quite pleasant. I worked from home, mostly out on the back deck, and our office closed at 3 pm today for the holiday. Next week, I have to be in the office on Tuesday, but for now I’m just enjoying the really nice weather — and a productive day to boot! — followed by the day off for the 4th of July.

Not much else to report, so maybe I’ll just conclude with my music mix for June. How did it get to be July already?

Heat waved

Oh, it was a busy day at work, but I managed to get more accomplished than I thought I would. And while it wasn’t as much as I would have liked to get accomplished, it was more than enough to end the day and week with.

Plus, there was cake. (It was a co-worker’s birthday.)

Right now, I’m just looking forward to the weekend. I had to break out the shorts and crank up the air conditioner, because it was as hot as an oven out today — though so cold in the office I can’t comfortably wear short-sleeved shirts. I think summer’s here for real.
