Monday

Today had all the trappings of a Monday, though not much else. It rained, quite a lot in the morning, and I got soaked through — well, from toe to shin, anyway — on the single block between Grand Central and my office. Some mornings, I kind of miss my old commute, with the fifteen minute walk from Penn Station. This was not one of those mornings.

I decided not to take advantage of summer hours at work this year. The approvals were due today, and my boss is away at a conference, so it was unlikely I’d be able to get the paperwork squared away. But, more importantly, I just don’t think it’s worth it, this year especially. I like the idea of leaving work three hours early on Fridays, but not so much the idea of spilling those hours into the rest of the week. Especially this year, in the new office, when I have fewer trains to choose from in the morning. Maybe if they continue the option, and after I’ve moved out — I haven’t been good about it, but I am in theory still looking for an apartment — but not this year.

Tuesdazed

It was back to work with me today. And that’s about it for today, really. The weather was nice enough that I didn’t need a jacket at all today, even if there was a chill in the air this evening. But otherwise it was just a normal enough Tuesday.

A pleasant enough Thursday

Today was a lot like yesterday, only without the rain…which, given that the rain was yesterday’s most defining feature, may not be saying a whole lot about this particular Thursday. But there you have it.

It was not at all rainy today — quite the opposite, in fact, with some lovely weather throughout most of the day. I had my lunch in a small public park I’d not noticed before, maybe because it’s not much more than a few benches and bushes in the courtyard of a building. Nothing special, but a pleasant enough Thursday.

A rainy Wednesday

Not much to say about the day. It was a Wednesday, a little wet and chilly, but nothing too special.

I did learn this evening that the restaurant where, just last month, we had my aunt and uncle’s wedding anniversary/birthday party — a restaurant they quite like, and which has been in Maspeth, Queens, for some eighty years — burned to the ground. Luckily no one was hurt.

And that’s about it, as far as Wednesday goes.

Thursday

There’s not a whole lot to say about today, really. It was pretty much just your typical, run-of-the-mill Thursday.

It poured rain in the middle of the afternoon, bucketing down just minutes after I’d wandered back to the office after lunch. Which was lucky, because I’d left both my umbrella and jacket behind at my desk. It had quit raining long before it was time for me to actually leave for the day.

And that, honestly, is about the closest I came to excitement today. They were filming something up the block from my office, or seemed to be, but I didn’t see what. It was a block away, the street was blocked by police, and it was going to rain. It’s possible it was location shooting for Glee, which I’ve seen but don’t watch, but I say that only because there was some chatter on Twitter about them filming for it elsewhere, nearby, in the city. I didn’t actually see anything definitive.

And that was Thursday.
