[<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/nalohopkinson\" title=\"@nalohopkinson\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Sure, it was silly and ridiculous when it happened <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geeksugar.com\/Michael-Dwight-from-Office-1572902\">on <i>The Office<\/i><\/a>, but it can be deadly serious when your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2011\/07\/26\/137646147\/the-gps-a-fatally-misleading-travel-companion\">GPS gives you the wrong information<\/a>. [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/maureenmcq\" title=\"@maureenmcq\">via<\/a>]\n<p>Suddenly, that suggestion that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=6293\">mapmakers sometimes <i>intentionally<\/i> include false information<\/a> to prevent copyright infringement sounds fairly irresponsible.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.denverpost.com\/food\/ci_18406550\">On the pleasures of dining alone<\/a> [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/bittman\" title=\"@bittman\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Speaking of food, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cynical-c.com\/2011\/07\/20\/i-wont-be-having-what-shes-having\">this<\/a> may be the most horrific thing I&#8217;ve ever seen. And I watch <i>Bizarre Foods<\/i> pretty regularly. Seriously, it&#8217;s perfectly SFW, but you may want to exercise caution visiting that link, much less watching the video. It&#8217;s of a &#8220;dancing squid&#8221; in a Japanese restaurant, reportedly, and it seems like nothing more than cruelty masquerading as novelty.\n<p>I am not a vegetarian, and I&#8217;ve eaten squid. I quite enjoyed the calamari I had on Saturday evening, for instance. But I think we have an obligation towards the food that we eat, the animals that we kill to sustain us. If they give up their lives, they deserve a quick an merciful end. They do <i>not<\/i> deserve to be toyed with like this.<\/p>\n<p>That said, if it&#8217;s fake&#8230;I&#8217;m not sure I feel a whole better about it. Although there&#8217;s a lot of evidence and commentary (<a href=\"http:\/\/boingboing.net\/2011\/07\/25\/a-bowl-of-dancing-squid-in-hokkaido-japan-video.html\">here as well<\/a>) to suggest it&#8217;s real.<\/li>\n<li>And finally, on a happier note, Monty Python member Graham Chapman isn&#8217;t going to let a little thing like being dead stand in the way of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/06\/27\/movies\/graham-chapman-tribute-from-monty-python.html?_r=2&#038;hp\">making a new movie<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dyslexie, A Typeface Designed To Help Dyslexics Read.
