It&#8217;s a shame, since the original, <i>The Abominable Dr. Phibes<\/i> is a macabre delight, but this was more uninspired, silly, and dull than anything else. I had more fun tweeting about the movie and reading about the sequels that never were <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dr._Phibes_Rises_Again#Unfilmed_screenplays_and_proposed_sequels\">on Wikipedia<\/a>. (A crime-fighting Dr. Phibes? Mad genius!)<\/p>\n<p>I will say this, though: Peter Jeffrey and John Cater steal nearly every scene they&#8217;re in as Inspecter Trout and Superintendent Waverley. (&#8220;Every time we build a better mousetrap, sir, Phibes just builds a better mouse.&#8221;)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Another pleasingly uneventful day around here.
