Overnight, the weather turned into fall. I finished the <i>New York Times<\/i> crossword for a change, watched a bunch of episodes of <i>Sports Night<\/i> and <i>The Office<\/i>, helped my father set up a couple of new bird feeders in the backyard, and this evening watch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt1201167\/\">Funny People<\/a>. The movie was okay, but I think <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avclub.com\/articles\/funny-people,31083\/\">Keith Phipps<\/a> described it best as &#8220;refreshingly unformulaic, but a rambling mess.&#8221; I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ve ever wanted a film to be <i>more<\/i> formulaic&#8230;which was almost sort of a welcome relief after last night&#8217;s <i>Resident Evil<\/i> movie.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote a little bit, too, but not nearly as much as I was hoping to. And I found myself more interested in a completely different story than the one I&#8217;d been working on, the one I was hoping to get into shape for a submission deadline at the end of the month. I&#8217;m off from work tomorrow &#8212; just taking a three-day weekend, planned over a month ago &#8212; so hopefully I can do a little more writing then.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Just a quiet Sunday at home.
