Better late than never. The pictures there actually give you a better sense of these so-called infinity pools, and moreover just how high up and close to the edge they are. I think I&#8217;d be terrified to swim in one these. [<a title=\"Cynicl-C\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cynical-c.com\/\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>Going back even further on things I forgot to follow up on: back in June <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=3952\">I posted<\/a> about a link that was going around, suggesting that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slashfilm.com\/2010\/06\/04\/lol-the-reoccurring-prop-newspaper\/\">every actor reads the same newspaper<\/a>. Well, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/blogs\/blogs\/browbeat\/archive\/2010\/06\/07\/the-story-behind-the-recycled-newspaper-prop.aspx\">Slate followed up on that link<\/a> and found out the story behind the ubiquitous prop. [<a title=\"Waxy.org Links\" href=\"http:\/\/www.waxy.org\/links\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>The world really is a poorer place without <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metafilter.com\/92677\/The-Pipes-the-Pipes-are-Calling\">Jim Henson<\/a>, isn&#8217;t it? [<a title=\"Waxy.org Links\" href=\"http:\/\/www.waxy.org\/links\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>I can&#8217;t say I&#8217;ll miss Blockbuster all that much, but <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/entertainment\/movies\/2010\/07\/19\/death_of_blockbuster\/index.html\">Matt Zoller Seitz makes a compelling argument<\/a> that we&#8217;ve lost something with the company&#8217;s (now almost certain) passing [<a title=\"Mark Evanier\" href=\"http:\/\/www.newsfromme.com\/\">via<\/a>]:<br \/>\n<blockquote><p>I&#8217;m talking about the pre-Internet experience of daily life, which was more immediate, more truly interactive: in a word, real. Bland and aloof as it was, Blockbuster was a part of that &#8212; and for certain types of people, it was a big part. There was nothing special about Blockbuster as a business, but special moments did happen there, simply by virtue of the fact that the stores were everywhere, and they stocked a lot of movies, and people who wanted to see movies went there regularly, sometimes alone but more often in the company of relatives or friends.
