{"id":4149,"date":"2010-07-15T18:30:04","date_gmt":"2010-07-15T22:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=4149"},"modified":"2010-07-15T17:06:31","modified_gmt":"2010-07-15T21:06:31","slug":"thursday-various-41","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=4149","title":{"rendered":"Thursday various"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Following up on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=4138\">yesterday&#8217;s revelation<\/a> that Michael Palin didn&#8217;t like <i>A Fish Called Wanda<\/i> when he first read the script, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lettersofnote.com\/2010\/07\/im-afraid-i-thought-this-one-as-dire-as.html\">here&#8217;s a letter<\/a> sent by a &#8220;comedy script editor&#8221; to the BBC, calling <i>Fawlty Towers<\/i> &#8212; incidentally named the all-time top British television program <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bfi.org.uk\/features\/tv\/100\/\">by the BFI in 2000<\/a> &#8212;  &#8220;[a] collection of cliches and stock characters which I can&#8217;t see being anything but a disaster.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Following up on the <i>Wonder Woman<\/i> post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=4123\">on Monday<\/a>, here&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tor.com\/blogs\/2010\/07\/why-i-wont-be-reading-the-new-wonder-woman\">two more<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/blastr.com\/2010\/07\/gloria-steinem-why-did-dc.php\">dissenting views<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>This <a href=\"http:\/\/iwl.me\/\">I Write Like<\/a> meme is getting torn apart all over the place, notably <a href=\"http:\/\/zia-narratora.livejournal.com\/626726.html\">here<\/a> [<a href=\"http:\/\/docbrite.livejournal.com\/\" title=\"Poppy Z. Brite\">via<\/a>] and <a href=\"http:\/\/gawker.com\/5587658\/\">here<\/a> [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\/TashaRobinson\" title=\"@TashaRobinson\">via<\/a>]\n<p>I&#8217;d post my own results, but they change with every different piece of text I have &#8220;analyzed,&#8221; and none seem remotely accurate &#8212; a weird mix of ego-stroking and insult.<\/li>\n<li>And <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/media\/greenslade\/2010\/jul\/13\/paywalls-us-press-publishing\">that&#8217;s one way<\/a> to ensure fewer comments&#8230; [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.waxy.org\/links\" title=\"Waxy.org Links\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<li>And finally, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bar-art\/4792145427\/\">Zombies: The Kid Vector<\/a>:<br \/>\n<blockquote><p>Here&#8217;s somethin they don&#8217;t tell you, but you better listen good if you want to survive out there: It&#8217;s the kids you gotta watch out for.
