Want to make a show about a diverse cross-section of humanity forging a new society? Or about race relations in Manhattan? Or the dangers of humanizing automatons? Slant it the wrong way, and you may end up with <i>Gilligan\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Island<\/i>, <i>Diff\u00e2\u20ac\u2122rent Strokes<\/i>, or <i>Small Wonder<\/i>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">His whole review of the latter&#8217;s 1st season DVD set is interesting &#8212; though it will come as no surprise to anyone who saw the show growing up (or who has been forced to cap it regularly <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hipsoda.com\/caption\/index.php?do=add_form&#038;loca=080913\/images&#038;pickgrab=1221364800\">on HCC<\/a>) that it&#8217;s pretty terrible.<\/li>\n<li>Is it just me or does <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thebookseller.com\/news\/112158-authors-guild-harnessing-google-is-best-option.html.rss\">the Authors Guild&#8217;s argument here<\/a> seem to be: &#8220;we could lose, so we won&#8217;t fight, because even if we won, we&#8217;d have to keep fighting, so we&#8217;ll just give up&#8221;? Frankly, I think I may be with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ursulakleguin.com\/Note-AGResignation.html\">Ursula K. Le Guin<\/a> on this one.<\/li>\n<li>And finally, you wouldn&#8217;t <i>think<\/i> an episode of the &#8217;90s <i>Hollywood Squares<\/i> would be particularly funny, but I think this one&#8217;s definitely worth it, just for Gilbert Gottfried [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsfromme.com\/\" title=\"Mark Evanier\">via<\/a>]:\n<p><object width=\"320\" height=\"265\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/pHmXw49t_v0&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;color1=0x006699&#038;color2=0x54abd6\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><embed src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/pHmXw49t_v0&#038;hl=en_US&#038;fs=1&#038;color1=0x006699&#038;color2=0x54abd6\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" allowscriptaccess=\"always\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" width=\"320\" height=\"265\"><\/embed><\/object><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Number 9, number 9&#8230; I&#8217;m in there somewhere.
