{"id":3608,"date":"2009-11-04T17:37:49","date_gmt":"2009-11-04T22:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=3608"},"modified":"2009-11-04T16:40:10","modified_gmt":"2009-11-04T21:40:10","slug":"a-kiss-is-still-a-kiss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=3608","title":{"rendered":"A kiss is still a kiss"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">And now, another in what I&#8217;m sure will be a long string of misguided efforts to get more of you to follow me on <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/unrealfred\">Twitter<\/a>, or at least to recycle some of the content I&#8217;ve posted there.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">Yesterday I read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/newstopics\/howaboutthat\/6471483\/Kissing-was-developed-to-spread-germs.html\">this article<\/a> (via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.warrenellis.com\/\">Warren Ellis<\/a>) about how kissing was perhaps an evolutionary development for the spread of germs. Which seems questionable to me, even if some germs beneficial to pregnant women are sometimes passed in this manner. I do recall <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ancient_Inventions#Sex_and_Love\">Terry Jones suggesting<\/a> that kissing was &#8220;invented&#8221; by the ancient Romans. But I&#8217;m not sure it was an understanding of infectious diseases so much as a desire to be smooched that led to that development.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">(Although if there are any ladies looking to build up their Cytomegalovirus levels&#8230;)<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\">Anyway, in response to something else <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/TwittterRock\">@TwitterRock<\/a> had posted &#8212; okay, a lyric from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/I_Kissed_a_Girl\">that Katy Perry song<\/a> &#8212; I forwarded the link about the kiss-based research.
