Red pens are sometimes stategically employed in either case.<\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<p>And authors need <i>coaxing<\/i> to appear on <i>Oprah<\/i>?<\/li>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li>In <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.nytimes.com\/2009\/06\/19\/movies\/19whatever.html?partner=rss&#038;emc=rss\">his review<\/a> of Woddy Allen&#8217;s new movie, <i>Whatever Works<\/i> &#8212; A.O. Scott writes:<br \/>\n<blockquote><p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Mr. Allen\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s unwavering belief in an empty cosmos made somewhat less bleak by the charms of old movies, older music and much younger women is one of the few things left we can count on. If the man ever gets religion, then we will know we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re really in trouble.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Frankly, this new one doesn&#8217;t look so great either.<\/li>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li>Meanwhile, I agree with Scott Tobias: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.avclub.com\/articles\/quick-change,29360\/?utm_medium=RSS&#038;utm_campaign=feeds\"><i>Quick Change<\/i> is an underrated comedy<\/a>.<\/li>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/forums.somethingawful.com\/showthread.php?threadid=3117769\">This<\/a> must be a joke, or else it takes the idea of &#8220;urban exploration&#8221; <i>way<\/i> too far. And I hope like hell I don&#8217;t live near anyone like this. [<a href=\"http:\/\/www.waxy.org\/links\/\" title=\"Waxy.org Links\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li>And finally, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.switched.com\/2009\/06\/19\/dresden-dolls-amanda-palmer-talks-tech-teens-and-tweeting\/\">Amanda Palmer<\/a> on the importance of being bored:<br \/>\n<blockquote><p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">&#8220;I don&#8217;t want to sound like a luddite old-fart, [but] I kind of worry about the &#8216;digital generation.&#8217; Kids today don&#8217;t have the freedom to be bored. There is something really important about boredom, and how you choose to fill it. If I had had the Internet at age 14 or 15 and had been able to expose myself and connect with people that way, I don&#8217;t know if I would have gone and messed around with the piano. Kids can definitely use the Internet creatively, but I think that there is something important about incubating on your own. I think boredom, space, time, and development need &#8216;unconnectedness.&#8217; These kids are so connected, and they are never bored, because they don&#8217;t need to be. I think that&#8217;s dangerous.
