I have no great desire to see <i>Knowing<\/i>, but I was amused by <a href=\"http:\/\/movies.nytimes.com\/2009\/03\/20\/movies\/20know.html\">A.O. Scott&#8217;s <i>NY Times<\/i> review<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But the odd thing about Mr. Cage in this movie is that even when he is responding to the threat of complete human extinction, you still can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t help feeling that he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s overreacting.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I miss the Nicolas Cage of movies like <i>Matchstick Men<\/i> and <i>Adaptation<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>I was also struck by Scott&#8217;s assertion that Cage&#8217;s character<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>is, like most movie dads these days, a widower, stricken with grief and trying to raise a cute, precocious young son&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Maybe I don&#8217;t see enough movies, but is this a significant trend?<\/font><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Roger Ebert loved it, but he&#8217;s apparently the only one.
