Yeah, me neither, and here it is, almost over. I carry my e-book reader with me pretty much everywhere, but right now I&#8217;m most actively reading my dead-trees version of Gene Wolfe&#8217;s <i>The Sword of the Lictor<\/i>.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Maybe it&#8217;s a good thing I couldn&#8217;t find an e-book version of Roberto Bola\u00c3\u00b1o&#8217;s novel <i>2666<\/i>. Apparently, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bookslut.com\/blog\/archives\/2009_03.php#014201\">they&#8217;ve found another section<\/a>.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">I&#8217;ve long maintained that Vladimir Nabokov <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=1653\">invented the emoticon<\/a>, but now it looks like maybe Ambrose Bierce <a href=\"http:\/\/www.williamgibsonbooks.com\/blog\/2009_03_01_archive.asp#3467061619436006363\">beat him to it<\/a> by several decades.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">The Saturn Awards <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvsquad.com\/2009\/03\/11\/strangeness-in-the-saturn-award-nominations\/\">have some funny ideas<\/a> about what is and isn&#8217;t science fiction. Then again, I&#8217;m perfectly happy to entertain discussions of why shows like <i>The Closer<\/i> or <i>Breaking Bad<\/i> &#8212; whose terrific first season I&#8217;m finally watching &#8212; qualify. After all, you can re-interpret <a href=\"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=1645\">pretty much anything<\/a> as science fiction if you want.<\/font><\/li>\n<li><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">&#8220;It is entirely reasonable to expect we will find a shadow biosphere here on Earth.&#8221; Well <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/sci\/tech\/7893414.stm\">there&#8217;s something<\/a> you don&#8217;t read every day.
