I don&#8217;t know how to sail or snorkel, but there are worse ways to spend one&#8217;s day, that&#8217;s for sure.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/gerrycanavan.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/foundations.html\">Gerry Canavan has an interesting post<\/a> about imaginative <i>urtexts<\/i>, the seminal influences that define us and, more specifically, or respective nerdities. It&#8217;s tough to narrow these down to just a select, specific few, but my own urtexts include <i>The Muppet Show<\/i>, <i>Monty Python<\/i>, Ray Bradbury stories, He-Man and G.I. Joe, Douglas Adams, Infocom and Sierra games, the Beatles, and a host of others I&#8217;m equally proud of and embarrased by. What are <i>yours<\/i>?<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;d read (via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.waxy.org\/links\">Waxy.org<\/a>) that small, handmade toy manufacturers might be seriously hurt<a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/01\/14\/smallbusiness\/toy_law_threatens_small_companies.smb\/?postversion=2009011509\">by new regulations<\/a> to protect children from lead exposure. But I&#8217;m shocked (via <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/neilhimself\">Neil Gaiman&#8217;s twitter<\/a>) that the same regulations <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/18498895\/detail.html#-\">might apply to children&#8217;s books<\/a>.
