(Okay, some of it might just be as simple and crude as it seems. But still.) I&#8217;m getting the sense that Virginia Heffernan <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2008\/11\/30\/books\/review\/Heffernan-t.html?ref=books\">really doesn&#8217;t like Sarah Vowell<\/a>.<\/li>\n<p><\/font><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><\/p>\n<li>There&#8217;s been a lot of talk in recent years about <em>Sesame Street<\/em> being dumbed down, primarily to appeal to its increasingly pre-school audience. But then it goes and does something like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvsquad.com\/2008\/11\/22\/sesame-street-does-30-rock-video\/\">this winning nod to <em>30 Rock<\/em><\/a>, or the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5121VjLwqZM\">Law and Order: Special Letters Unit<\/a> spoof from a while back. It&#8217;s clearly not just all Elmo&#8217;s World over there.<\/li>\n<p><\/font> <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><\/p>\n<li>Today&#8217;s Wal-Marts and Best Buys &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2008\/11\/13\/AR2008111303039.html?hpid=sec-artsliving\">tomorrow&#8217;s cathedrals, museums and artists&#8217; communities<\/a>? [<a href=\"http:\/\/gwendabond.typepad.com\/bondgirl\" title=\"Gwenda Bond\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<p><\/font> <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><\/p>\n<li>I don&#8217;t drink coffee very often, and I&#8217;ve never actually used a hotel coffeemaker, but <a href=\"http:\/\/eatourbrains.com\/EoB\/2008\/11\/25\/now-this-was-odd\/\">this is helpful advice<\/a> nonetheless. If I&#8217;m staying overnight someplace where methamphetamines are regularly brewed, I think I should know about it.<\/li>\n<p><\/font> <font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana\"><\/p>\n<li>Out for Justice? Steven Seagal has been a New Orleans cop <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nola.com\/davewalker\/2008\/11\/steven_seagals_secret_life_as.html\">for the past twenty years<\/a>. You just can&#8217;t make that kind of thing up. I was a fan of the original, but it was canceled pretty quick.
