Seriously, go read some of them &#8212; it occurs to me that I&#8217;ve never actually watched any of George Romero&#8217;s zombie movies. I should probably remedy that at some point.<\/li>\n<p><\/font> <font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li><em>Pushing Daisies<\/em> has been cancelled. This makes me sad. If the universe was looking to off-set my sadness a little, it could finally give <em>The Middleman<\/em> a second season. I&#8217;m just saying.<\/li>\n<p><\/font> <font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li>I&#8217;m really intrigued by these examples of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smashingmagazine.com\/2008\/11\/16\/beautiful-examples-of-tilt-shift-photography\/\">tilt-shift photography<\/a>. Tilt-shift makes real locations and objects look like miniature-scale models. I find most of these photographs stunning, but I&#8217;m not completely sure <em>why<\/em>. After all, would the same images, shot without the camera manipulation, seem quite so incredible? I&#8217;ve seen this sort of thing before, but I think now what I find most interesting about the technique is how completely it tricks the mind. I&#8217;m constantly having to remind myself that these aren&#8217;t models, and that the exquisite attention to detail isn&#8217;t necessarily the photographer&#8217;s doing. I&#8217;m still not interested in watching the show, however.<\/li>\n<p><\/font> <font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li>Christopher Beam <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/id\/2205143\/pagenum\/all\/#p2\">makes a compelling argument<\/a> for why stories of vampires continue to reinvent themselves: &#8220;stomping on old myths <em>heightens<\/em> the realism.&#8221; [<a href=\"http:\/\/gwendabond.typepad.com\/bondgirl\" title=\"Gwenda Bond\">via<\/a>]<\/li>\n<p><\/font><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reading this post &#8212; the latest in John Seavey&#8217;s terrific storytelling engines series.
