My first thought was to wonder if this maybe signaled a final decline of the American empire, and if vomitoriums couldn&#8217;t be too far behind. But then I was disillusioned to learn <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vomitoria\">from Wikipedia<\/a> that &#8220;A commonly held, but false, belief is that Ancient Romans designated spaces called vomitoria for the purpose of actual vomiting, as part of a binge and purge cycle.&#8221; If you can&#8217;t believe in ancient Roman vomit, what can you believe in?<\/li>\n<li>In general, I think the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0796366\/\"><em>Star Trek<\/em> reboot<\/a> is a bad idea &#8212; at best an underwhelmingly unoriginal idea. I&#8217;m increasingly less enchanted with J.J. Abrams with each new project, but more to the point, remakes are a tricky proposition, and I don&#8217;t see a reason to remake this. As a franchise, <em>Trek<\/em> would do a lot better to look <em>forward<\/em>. (Or at least a <em>Deep Space Nine<\/em> movie.) All that said, even if I thought the movie was a good idea, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfsignal.com\/archives\/006915.html\">this<\/a> isn&#8217;t the poster to sell anybody else on the idea.<\/li>\n<li>I keep forgetting to mention how much I like <a href=\"http:\/\/ken-jennings.com\/blog\/?p=918\">this wall mural<\/a> Ken Jennings painted for his daughter&#8217;s bedroom.<\/li>\n<li>Things are just getting worse and worse for the American <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifi.com\/scifiwire\/index.php?id=57832\"><em>Life on Mars<\/em><\/a>. Even Colm Meany&#8217;s gone? (Well, that means he&#8217;s free for that <em>DS9 <\/em>movie&#8230;) Seriously, can I just skip it and watch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/lifeonmars\/\">the terrific original<\/a> again instead?<\/li>\n<li><em>Tin Man<\/em> was nominated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.scifi.com\/scifiwire\/index.php?id=57790\">for nine Emmy Awards<\/a>? But <em>Tin Man<\/em>&#8230;well, <em>sucked<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>It&#8217;s horrible, but I think what struck me most in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/news\/world\/us_and_americas\/article3886348.ece\">this sad story<\/a> of US Marine Sergeant Tyler Ziegel and now ex-wife Renee was this line:<br \/>\n<blockquote><p>Part of his skull is implanted in the fatty tissue in his torso, to keep it viable and moist for future use&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Like I said, it&#8217;s horrible, but <em>ewww<\/em>.
