I think it&#8217;s a losing battle, to be honest; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.povonline.com\/\">Mark Evanier<\/a> and company may have succeeded with <a href=\"http:\/\/imdb.com\/title\/tt0094469\/\">their version<\/a>, but it&#8217;s fairly obvious that Jim Davis hasn&#8217;t cared about it himself for years. (If he ever did care.) Still, there have been some pretty valiant efforts lately: <\/font><\/p>\n<ul> <font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\"><\/p>\n<li>First, there was the strip <a href=\"http:\/\/www.truthandbeautybombs.com\/bb\/viewtopic.php?t=4997\">without Garfield&#8217;s thought balloons<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Then there was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/lasagnacat\">Lasagna Cat<\/a>, which is just&#8230;well, weird. But strangely fascinating, too.<\/li>\n<li>Next, <a href=\"http:\/\/garfieldminusgarfield.tumblr.com\/\">Garfield Minus Garfield<\/a>. That Jon Arbuckle is one lonely demented bastard, isn&#8217;t he?<\/li>\n<li>And next, <a href=\"http:\/\/elasticosmos.files.wordpress.com\/2007\/10\/1529331900_861507a2c0_o.jpg\">Garfield as a real cat<\/a>, which just continues the trend.<\/li>\n<li>And now, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dougshaw.com\/garfield.html\">Garfield panel randomizer<\/a>. Not as funny as some of the others, maybe, but more funny than the actual strip.<\/li>\n<p><\/font><\/ul>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Yet I fear that &#8220;Garfield&#8221; is an unstoppable behemoth. Long after all the rest of the world is dust, it &#8212; and maybe <a href=\"http:\/\/feeds.feedburner.com\/~r\/weblogsinc\/tvsquad\/~3\/242311043\/\"><em>According to Jim<\/em><\/a> reruns &#8212; will be all that&#8217;s left of mankind. Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair indeed.
