{"id":2896,"date":"2008-02-05T22:48:46","date_gmt":"2008-02-06T03:48:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=2896"},"modified":"2008-02-05T22:50:24","modified_gmt":"2008-02-06T03:50:24","slug":"tapping-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=2896","title":{"rendered":"Tapping out"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">I guess it makes sense &#8212; her character has been ridiculously under-served this season and a poor fit in her current role since day one &#8212; but I think I&#8217;m still disappointed that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvsquad.com\/2008\/02\/05\/carter-out-woolsey-in-for-fifth-season-of-stargate-atlantis\/\">Amanda Tapping is leaving <em>Stargate Atlantis<\/em><\/a>.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">She&#8217;ll stick around as a special guest star for several episodes, but then so will Paul McGillion, and his character was killed off last season. It&#8217;s disappointing because, on paper at least, Tapping seemed like a really interesting fit for the show. Not necessarily a <em>good<\/em> fit, of course &#8212; at least not in the way the writers eventually envisioned it &#8212; but it could have worked. It was certainly high-profile enough within the fan community, but now it just feels like miscalculated stunt casting. Tapping has barely even been <em>on<\/em> the show this past year. (Seriously, compile all her scenes and I doubt you&#8217;d even squeeze together one episode.) I kept thinking what they really needed was an episode that focused on her and her specifically, but I guess we&#8217;re not likely to get that now.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Which is a shame. Because the <em>Stargate SG-1<\/em> Samantha Carter was pretty cool.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">Oh, and yeah, I went with the lame pun in the title of this post.
