{"id":2427,"date":"2007-02-10T11:42:00","date_gmt":"2007-02-10T19:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=2427"},"modified":"2007-02-10T11:42:00","modified_gmt":"2007-02-10T19:42:00","slug":"2427","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.unreality.net\/weblog\/?p=2427","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font face=\"Verdana\" size=\"2\">I don&#8217;t know about you, but if anything, I&#8217;m maybe more offended by the idea that the word &#8220;hoohaa&#8221; is an acceptable <a href=\"http:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/entertainment\/10948346\/detail.html\" title=\"Play's Controversial Title Leads To Complaints, Change\">substitute for &#8220;vagina&#8221;<\/a> &#8212; or that &#8220;vagina&#8221; is itself somehow a dirty word:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;We got a complaint about this play The Vagina Monologues,&#8221; said Bryce Pfanenstiel, of the Atlantic Theater.<\/p>\n<p>The Hoohah Monologues is a replacement title for The Vagina Monologues &#8212; a well-known play about that part of the female body.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We decided we would just use child slang for it. That&#8217;s how we decided on Hoohah Monologues,&#8221; Pfanenstiel said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s right, one complaint. That seems pretty ridiculous to me &#8212; and, like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neilgaiman.com\/journal\/2007\/02\/not-quite-blog-birthday.html\">Neil Gaiman says<\/a> &#8220;seems to miss the point on a scale that&#8217;s positively awesome.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Do we need to start resorting to childish slang and code words <i>every<\/i> time someone might overreact and be easily offended by something they walk past? Does Arthur Miller&#8217;s <i>Death of a Saleman<\/i>, for instance, need be renamed <i>The Salesman Ran Away While You Were At School (But He&#8217;s Living on a Really Nice Farm Now, Honest, So Don&#8217; You Worry<\/i>)?
