href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0077280\/\">The Buddy Holly Story<\/a> is a very by-the-numbers musical biopic, almost a little boring\u2014which is maybe inevitable given the unfortunate shortness of the man&#8217;s life, the full potential of his musical career never reached\u2014but Gary Busey is terrific enough in the title role to forgive all of that.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>I&#8217;m not sure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt31728330\/\">They Will Kill You<\/a> successfully pulls off everything it&#8217;s trying to do, and sometimes just throws stylized shots on the screen for their own sake, but it&#8217;s energetic, often clever, and a lot of fun.\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>I was maybe impressed with, more than engaged by, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0050407\/\">Forty Guns<\/a>, but it&#8217;s hard to deny the strength of the performances and simple effectiveness of Samuel Fuller&#8217;s direction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt34685692\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" 203px) 100vw, 203px\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt34685692\/\">Over Your Dead Body<\/a> is sometimes very funny, but it never quite figures out its tone, or a reason to care about the two leads coming together.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>MGM made nine Dr. Kildare movies in five years, so despite their charms, it&#8217;s no wonder they feel by turn a little thin, a little padded, and a little repetitive. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0032416\/\">Dr. Kildare&#8217;s Strange Case<\/a> is no exception, except here the medicine feels especially hokey and dated.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt7323600\/\">Hagazussa<\/a> is deeply weird and unsettling, slow to the point of ponderous, more mood than plot, never what you would call <em>fun<\/em>, and often genuinely disturbing, and yet it really got under its skin, and that mood worked on
