That doesn&#8217;t always work\u2014these can feel less like characters than random names on a call-sheet\u2014but there are a bunch of genuinely scary shots throughout.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0080360\/\">Altered States<\/a> is very silly, but it takes itself seriously, which surprisingly very much works. &#8220;I can tell myself intellectually that this movie is a fiendishly constructed visual and verbal roller coaster,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rogerebert.com\/reviews\/altered-states-1980\">wrote Roger Ebert<\/a>, &#8220;a movie deliberately intended to overwhelm its audiences with sensual excess. I know all that, and yet I was overwhelmed, I was caught up in its headlong energy.&#8221;<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0053363\/\">The Tingler<\/a> is enjoyable camp, largely thanks to Vincent Price, which is good, because as an actual <em>horror<\/em> movie, it&#8217;s goofy and convoluted and not especially compelling.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I also rewatched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0200659\/\">Ghostwatch<\/a>.
