Darren McGavin is a lot of fun the role of Kolchak, and it&#8217;s not hard to see why they made another one of these shortly thereafter and then a series.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>If <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0069002\/\">The Night Strangler<\/a> isn&#8217;t quite the equal to its predecessor, it&#8217;s still a lot of fun.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0032635\/\">The Invisible Man Returns<\/a> can&#8217;t really settle on a tone and never makes much use of its effects or cast, particularly Vincent Price, who is almost never actually on screen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I also rewatched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0463854\/\">28 Weeks Later<\/a>, which I&#8217;d forgotten doesn&#8217;t have much of a plot beyond everything going very sideways very quickly, but which still works for all that, as another vignette in this series&#8217; end of the world. I also rewatched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0091083\/\">From Beyond<\/a>, which can&#8217;t quite measure up to <em>Re-Animator<\/em>, Stuart Gordon&#8217;s earlier Lovecraft adaption with Jeffrey Combs and Barbara Cranston, but it&#8217;s a still a lot of goopy and creepy fun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I watched 6 movies last week: Intruder is mostly not good, but it&#8217;s occasionally not good in some interesting ways.
