But the heart of Wilder&#8217;s play is here, even if I prefer other, later stagings of it.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>I&#8217;m not entirely convinced there was a compelling artistic reason to make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt6166392\/\">Wonka<\/a>, and yet the finished confection is actually quite delightful and sweet.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>The NY Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1986\/04\/04\/movies\/film-eyes-of-fire-a-morality-tale.html\">described<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0085515\/\">Eyes of Fire<\/a>, not inaccurately, as &#8220;an ambitious idea gone haywire, as if <em>The Scarlet Letter<\/em> had zoomed into the future and collided with the movie version of <em>The Exorcist<\/em>.&#8221; It&#8217;s often interesting, even fascinating, but its reach also often exceeds its grasp.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I also re-watched <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0286751\/\">Kairo<\/a> (<em>Pulse<\/em>), which I&#8217;ve often cited as one of my favorite horror movies.
