personified, and he&#8217;s well-teamed with Kay Francis\u2014with whom he co-starred an incredible total of twenty-one times\u2014but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0023305\/\">One Way Passage<\/a> is a little forgettable.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0056552\/\">Tales of Terror<\/a> isn&#8217;t the best of Roger Corman&#8217;s Edgar Allan Poe adaptations, but it&#8217;s got a fun performance by Peter Lorre and at least a couple by Vincent Price.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0037330\/\">The Suspect<\/a> maybe acts more as a character study than a tense thriller, Charles Laughton is very good in the title role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table>\n<tr>\n<td><a 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/><\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li>There are a lot of reasons to watch the terrific noir <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0045555\">The Big Heat<\/a>, but the best might be Gloria Grahame&#8217;s energetic performance.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0051713\/\">Hell Drivers<\/a> would be interesting just for all the British actors early in their careers\u2014William Hartnell, Patrick McGoohan, David McCallum, Sean Connery\u2014but it&#8217;s also a terrifically exciting working-class British noir.<\/li>\n<ul><\/ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0051713\/\">The Petrified Forest<\/a> held fewer surprises than I expected, but it has a really nice central performance by Leslie Howard and a nice villain turn by Humphrey Bogart, in the movie that arguably made him a star.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the last couple of weeks, when
