Last week, I watched another half dozen movies.<\/p>\n\n\n
\"Don't<\/a><\/td>\n\"The<\/a><\/td>\n\"Deep<\/a><\/td>\n\"Alone<\/a><\/td>\n\"Billy<\/a><\/td>\n\"Funny<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n

I agree with most everything Mark Kermode says about DON\u2019T WORRY DARLING<\/strong> here<\/a>. The movie is nothing but a waiting game, to see which twist they\u2019ve decided on, but it\u2019s not an interesting<\/i> twist, and it could just as easily have been half a dozen others. Florence Pugh turns in a good performance, but there isn\u2019t much else to recommend it, and you could drive a vintage car through all its plot holes and unanswered questions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you want a movie where Amazons riding unicorns to fight robots and a space princess isn\u2019t even close to the goofiest thing that happens, then THE ICE PIRATES<\/strong> is definitely for you. The New York Times described it at the time as \u201ca Star Wars<\/i> spin-off made in an underdeveloped galaxy,\u201d and while there\u2019s some charm to that and its cheapness, the movie isn\u2019t exactly what you might call good<\/i>.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of good performances in DEEP COVER<\/strong>\u2013which manages to feel only a little<\/i> overly \u201890s\u2013but Laurence Fishburne is especially good in it.<\/p>\n

ALONE IN THE DARK<\/strong> does some interesting things with its slightly odd premise.<\/p>\n

BILLY ELLIOT<\/strong> has its charms.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know that I love all of the songs in FUNNY GIRL<\/strong>, but it\u2019s hard not to find something to love when Streisand and Sharif are on screen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
