Out of the blue on Saturday, even though I haven’t heard from him in about a year, Victor<\/a> sent me a song<\/a>. It’s one that I wrote sometime back in 2002, when Victor was still an active member of the Monty Python Society<\/a>. (He switched campuses after that spring.) Circumstances prevented us from performing the song at our night of sketches that year like we’d originally planned, and I’ve always sort of regretted that. We perfomed a slightly different, midi’ed version of it earlier this year at a meeting, but it’s just not the same. I’m weirdly proud of the song; I think it’s equal parts disgusting and clever. (Its full title, for the wary, is “Diarrhea: A Love Song”.) So Victor’s e-mail came as a really pleasant surprise.<\/p>\n

Frankly, I’m amazed that he remembered the music, but maybe I shouldn’t be. It’s music that existed in my head more than the page before Victor read it and mapped out some simple guitar chords. He knew what I was going for right away. Me, I’ve never even picked up<\/i> a guitar before.<\/p>\n

Give it a listen if you get a chance. Oh, on the off chance that some of you haven’t heard my other<\/i> song<\/a>…<\/p>\n
